The aims of this course are to enhance and develop students field skills to the point that they can independently conduct and complete a field-mapping project either assigned by an employer or as part of a graduate thesis. Instructor will also introduce to students the using of modern mapping techniques by using a computer in the field with interactive GPS and GIS software. Students expected to develop the abilities to visualize geospatial relations in two and three dimensions, develop and critically evaluate multiple working hypotheses, prepare accurate, neat, professional geologic maps, and to write clear, concise reports. Instructor require students to work in groups in the field for safety, but all assignments, including maps, cross-sections, reports, and GIS projects (and all parts of all of these) must be exclusively of the group work
